There are 2 Volunteer Training Programs held each year. The first Program is held at Darlinghurst in March – April. This Program is held after hours.

The second Program is held at Liverpool and Darlinghurst in May-June. This Program is held in office hours.

The Volunteer Training Program consists of 6 core units + 1 elective unit. Each unit is 3 hours duration.

The 6 core units are:

  1. History, Mission, Philosophy and Values of Sisters of Charity Outreach;
  2. Values, Attitudes and Communication;
  3. The Loss Process;
  4. Visit to the Services;
  5. The Legal System;
  6. Legal Issues.

An additional elective unit is chosen during the Program, in accordance with the Service of your choice.

Having completed these units, new volunteers are required to do 3 months probation in their chosen Service before being eligible for a Certificate of Graduation.
